Project Overview: an education solution to a summer of social distancing

A group of education-based organizations, including Great Oaks Charter School, Strive, SummerCollab and the Community Education Building CEB), developed a strategy to ensure kids engage in compelling and productive online and offline experiences this summer. Having evaluated community needs and assets, they developed a centralized education portal (called WAVE) to engage middle and high school teens in high quality learning content throughout this unprecedented summer of social distancing.

WAVE will unlock student motivation through human connection, community, and a deep focus on personalized learning. It will offer diverse course offerings ranging from dance and music, to career workshops and coding. This system aims to provide youth with an engaging summer experience that promotes self esteem, mental health, intrinsic motivation, engagement and push back against the “covid slide.”
