Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a music producer?

To program catchy beats like Timbaland or write amazing chord progressions like Pharrell Williams? The funny thing is, you don't even need to play an instrument to make music and get your tracks on Spotify. You just need a free online software and someone to teach you a thing or two about MIDI, audio, sampling, and remixing!

In Electronic Music Production, you'll learn how to produce your own original tracks. In each session, you will learn a new technique that will take your music to the professional level. And don't be fooled by the term 'electronic music.' In this program, you're encouraged to make whatever kind of music inspires you—hip-hop, R&B, pop, rock, you name it!

This program is taught by singer-songwriter, producer, and performer, McKinley Short. It will run for 4 weeks from July 13 - August 5 from 2-3pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.

This course is designed for students who have a deep appreciation for music and is best suited for high schoolers and musically experienced middle schoolers. Please note that you will need a computer to access the online software for this course.

Hi, I’m McKinley!

I'm a singer-songwriter with a passion for teaching music. After receiving my music education degree, I moved to Spain to study Music Technology and Production at Berklee College of Music. While I was there, I wrote, produced, and recorded an EP of five original songs which I released on all streaming platforms in the summer of 2018. I stayed in school an extra year to designed a music production curriculum for high school students.

Currently, I'm in Spain working at Berklee teaching music production and advising music students on their careers in music. I'm always writing, producing, and recording my own original music, and I would love to teach you how to do it too!

This course is closed for enrollment.
